Covent Garden Renovation Project
Completed in 2021, Shorts Gardens located in the Seven Dials Market saw the renovation of a 1990s warehouse conversion.
The former cucumber warehouse is Grade II listed so after an intense planning stage, our team installed a mezzanine extension within the vaulted volume of the living area, which increased the internal floor area of the apartment by 150ft2 .
The resulting architectural intervention is playful, clever, exceptionally detailed and makes gestures to the history of the building through its use of materials: cement terrazzo flooring, soaped oak cabinetry and joinery, and the retention of the historic fabric of the original Victorian warehouse. As a nod to its past, we even painted the central column green, like a cucumber.
